About THUNDERBOARD
THUNDERBOARD is a county-level severe weather situational awareness dashboard originally developed for Linn County Emergency Management and now adapted for Iowa county-mode operational monitoring, warning decision support, and EOC briefing use.
Designed and developed by Peter B. Brisbine, Operations & Readiness, Linn County Emergency Management Agency, THUNDERBOARD brings together public weather, transportation, river, and local observation feeds into a compact operational view intended for emergency management, public safety coordination, and severe weather readiness.
The dashboard summarizes NWS alerts, IEMBot products, SPC outlook and watch context, radar, Iowa 511 road impacts, IDOT traffic cameras, selected river gauges, and Local AI decision-support context into a threat map and briefing-oriented workflow.
Operational use: THUNDERBOARD is intended to support situational awareness and decision-making. It does not replace official National Weather Service warnings, local emergency management procedures, incident documentation, or established public warning systems.
Data and privacy: Data sources are primarily public operational feeds and locally configured services. THUNDERBOARD does not require public user accounts and should not be used to collect personally identifiable information, protected information, or sensitive incident details unless a separate authorized deployment policy is in place.
